Camping time back on!

Well, Tanya finally decided we should go looking for travel trailers since our old Winnebago lost its battle with the elm tree. We were wanting another Winnebago but were open to other trailers while we were looking for another one.We went over to the old Gander Mountain in Tyler where they sell trailers from different manufacturers.   They had one Winnebago trailer on the lot and it was used, which knocked it out of consideration.  Shortly after the older trailer had been totaled out we had stopped at a Winnebago dealer in Flint and found a layout that we liked.  By … Continue reading Camping time back on!

Tanya and I were shopping over in Tyler and went into Best Buy.  While she was looking at TV’s and home stereo equipment I was back in the automotive sound section comparing the different head units on display.  Our new Tundra had a Entune Plus head unit in it and it had no navigation other than a compass in the mirror.  I had mentioned to Tanya that eventually I’d like to get an after-market HU for the truck that had wireless Apple Carplay and navigation built in.  I was messing around with the HU’s on the display (specifically the Pioneer … Continue reading Surprise!

Blessing in disguise

Turns out that the body shop/adjuster totaled the white Tundra, seeing as how the frame was bent also. One saving grace was that with our local Toyota dealership, if you have a vehicle you purchased from them totaled and have GAP insurance and financed through Toyota Financial Services you can get another truck before all the insurance stuff has processed through…. so, I present you with our latest addition to the family.   Another Tundra, but this is the TRD Off-Road 4×4 package.  Tanya was leery about us getting a 4×4 but it came in handy the next day as … Continue reading Blessing in disguise

Enjoying Blanco State park

We arrived here on Monday and hit the campsite set up. First day we didn’t do much but on day 2 we went to Fredericksburg and spent most of the day there.  Downton Fredericksburg was really a neat place to walk the main street. Fredericksburg is home to the National Museum of the Pacific War. It is also the childhood home of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. Nimitz served as CinCPAC, Commander in Chief, United States Pacific Fleet and was soon afterward named Commander in Chief, Pacific Ocean Areas during World War II. The museum was a really neat place … Continue reading Enjoying Blanco State park

Camping? Nope!

Well, after getting the new truck it seems that nature has been conspiring against us on a camping outing.  Whenever we would like to go, the rain moves in.  When we can’t go (dogs need sitter) the weather is perfect. I’m hoping that we get at least one more camping excursion before the cold weather hits.  I’ve already winterized the trailer, but we rarely use any water in it, and what we do use would be easy enough to winterize again after the tank is dumped. It’s really frustrating having brand new equipment that you bought for specific purpose and can’t … Continue reading Camping? Nope!
